NDE's
Ian McCormack's unique NDE covers the story of an atheist that was stung by 5 box jelly fish and as a consequence Ian had an out of body experience (spiritual experience of life after death). Due to a string of spiritual experiences he became a Christian on the way to the hospital. The poisoning was so severe that his body ended up in the morgue while his spirit engaged in astral travel (called OBD, i.e. out of body experience). Ian's story touches on Heaven and Hell as many NDE's do. NDE's are characterised by a greatly enhanced consciousness and the experience is larger than life and so real and intense that it can not be compared to dreams. Nevertheless if we compare Ian's NDE with other NDE's then we must presume that visions are an artistic expression of a deeper reality or that the afterlife is very rich in variants. |
Like all religions the bible does teach a concept of the afterlife. It includes heaven and hell and uses various terms, such as Hades, Sheol, Gehenna and Judgement , but it does not elaborate on specifics. This has opened the door to questions, such as ... Is torment in hell eternal ? Is hell compatible with Gods Justice & Love ? Did Jesus preach to the dead ? Does the judgement in the Gospel of John equate to hell ? Do we have Multi-cultural concepts of hell through the ages ?
